To Infinity...AND BEYOND!!!, Part Eighteen: The Infinity Gauntlet Box Set

Come for the book reviews, stay for the slipcase review.

Physically, this is a beautiful package; Just as good, if not better, than the SECRET WARS BOX SET. The box has a hinged door, with a magnetic clasp, that holds twelve hardcovers with a mural that runs across all twelve spines.

The box is adorned with art, outside and in, by Ron Lim, George Perez, and Angel Medina, and it is massively heavy and sturdy. My wife dropped the SECRET WARS BOX SET from about three feet up, and it came through unscathed, and this is just as high-quality.

There was some debate on the Collected Editions message board about whether or not the binding on the twelve hardcovers is sewn; I can tell you for a fact that it is. The hardcovers are sewn, they lay flat when reading, and they have the cover art printed right on the boards, which are that flat back that shows scratches and scuffs VERY easily, so...be careful.

I basically got this for half-price, so I was pretty happy with my purchase. This is a nice, permanent collectible edition of an event that is massively important to Marvel history, both the comics and the movies. I do wish, however, that this was a Jim Starlin-centric box set, that could have included all of HIS Captain Marvel, Warlock, Thanos, and Silver Surfer work.....this is a great set for INFINITY completists, but a lot of the crossover issues were terrible....1990's Marvel at their worst. The set also comes with a fabric wall hanging/poster depicting George Perez's art for THE INFINITY GAUNTLET #1.

Overall, THE INFINITY GAUNTLET BOX SET earns a solid eight out of ten Lady Deaths:
