 A break from the formula...?

 Not really. More of a stretching out of the formula.

 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY #3 is part one of two, so instead of the half and half format of the previous issues, this tale takes place completely in the prehistoric past, and centers on Marak, a barbarian warlord who is the Forrest Gump of his day. Over the course of this issue, Marak creates the army, dreams up horseback riding, ushers in The Bronze Age, and has a hand in inventing the wheel. All this, in just 17 pages! Talk about bang for your buck.

 I wonder if Kirby will get to take these huge ideas anywhere before the book is canceled with issue 10?
