To Infinity...AND BEYOND!!!, Part Seven: The Infinity Gauntlet
Man, does this story hold up amazingly well.
Having just experienced THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR less than a week ago, it was especially fun to revisit this collection in a beautiful new hardcover edition.I had a good time picking out all of the little bits and pieces that ended up in the movie, and it gave me a lot of food for thought as to what might be coming down the pike when the second part of the film arrives in a year.
I already covered this collection HERE for those of you that are interested in a breakdown of the story and art (And the change in artists mid-stream!). Having read THE INFINITY GAUNTLET maybe a half-dozen times, I'm continuously amazed at how well writer Jim Starlin's cosmic epic holds up, and how well he manages to capture every single character's unique voice and personality. A great artist, to be sure, but also a tremendously underrated writer. Artists George Perez and Ron Lim kill it on the art. Thanos has been very popular at Marvel over the past few decades, but no one can write him like Jim Starlin.......truly one of the greatest villains in the history of literature.
This new hardcover, part of THE INFINITY GAUNTLET BOX SET, is beautifully done, with thick, glossy paper that holds the colors perfectly...the art has never looked better. Highly recommended, if you can bear to part with the cash.
THE INFINITY GAUNTLET earns a mighty nine out of ten Infinity Gauntlets:
